Not Enough (たりないふたり, Tarinai Futari) is the 12th episode of Odd Taxi anime series.
Synopsis[]
- The bank robbery plans begin as the cases filled with counterfeit bills are loaded into Yano's van. Dobu's plan occurs without issue, with only one case being thoroughly examined in Sekiguchi's hurry to make it back to the hideout. Kenshiro follows the van as Dobu loads the nine real cases into his own.
- Dobu meets up with Odokawa at the parking lot and tells Odokawa where Yano is going to be held up. Secretly, Odokawa plants the bug he found on Dobu's van.
- At the police station, two officers discuss a rumor about Koshiro quitting to cover up him losing his gun and possibly firing it. Shofutei is then seen on a phone call with Kuroda making plans to meet up with him to keep his mind off of recent events.
- At the loser's bracket of N-1, Shibagaki and Baba perform their routine to a positive audience reception, but Shibagaki eventually starts to falter, and airs out his grievances with Baba and his life on stage.
- Yano's van is pulled over by Kenshiro as Odokawa reaches the area. Sekiguchi and Yano comply and show Kenshiro the cases, saying that they are just helping their friend, Imai, transport his lottery winnings. Kenshiro opens one of the other cases to discover that the money is counterfeit, much to Yano and Sekiguchi's shock, and detains them in his car, while letting Imai go. As they are distracted, Dobu steals the van along with the remaining real case, and the duo finally realize that Kenshiro was allied with Dobu.
- Dobu puts the case in Odokawa'a taxi, and the two start making their way back to the parking lot where they left Dobu's van. Dobu tells Odokawa that he'll be taking his dash cam, and asks him if he'd been planning on turning him in to the police. Dobu continues on to threaten Odokawa and Shirakawa if he crosses him, saying that his boss only gave him one rule, though he doesn't elaborate.
- When they return to the parking lot, Tanaka, who had followed the bug, is waiting for them. Dobu isn't worried, as he believes that the gun is out of bullets: two fired at the cabaret club, one in Odokawa's house, two during the car chase, and one when he supposedly shot Dobu at the harbor. Dobu asks him what business he has with them, and Tanaka ruminates before requesting an apology from Odokawa, who reluctantly steps out of the taxi. After Tanaka angrily rants to him about Odokawa causing his phone to break, Odokawa fearfully apologizes, which causes the Donraku Shofutei eraser to fall out of his pocket.
- Tanaka asks him where he got the eraser, and Dobu answers that he got it from Kuroda, and eventually handed it off to Shirakawa around fifteen years ago. Tanaka then asks if the name "ditch-11" sounds familiar to him, and if he plays "Zooden", then saying that he contacted "ditch-11", who confirmed that they had hosted an auction around fifteen years ago. Tanaka threatens him, but Dobu denies his relation, causing Odokawa to check the account for himself revealing Dobu to actually be "ditch-11". Tanaka berates Dobu for his lie, Dobu bringing up that he also lied about contacting him, and blames him for the downward spiral his life had become. Tanaka then shoots Dobu in the gut, revealing that he still had one bullet left, screams in horror, and flees the scene.
- Dobu begs Odokawa to take him to an underground doctor, but Odokawa instead steals his keys and tells him to go to a normal hospital, as someone has already likely called an ambulance after hearing a gun shot. Odokawa places the keys under the van and leaves the parking lot, saying that this is Dobu's retribution. Odokawa calls Imai, and tells him to take his money and the keys. Before he can leave, however, Sekiguchi and Yano catch up to him in the police car and initiate a chase.
- Koshiro finds Kenshiro, beaten up on the side of the road. He chides him, but asks that he join him to arrest Yano's gang, though Kenshiro points out that he would be arrested, too. Koshiro tearfully asks Kenshiro why he allied with Dobu, and Kenshiro shows him a duck keychain that he got from an organization that aids children who were orphaned by car accidents which was run by Kuroda. Koshiro, still saddened by his brother's confirmed involvement with Dobu, resolves to take him down once and for all.
