Let Me Hear You Say, "What the Hell?" (なんでやねんが聞きたいよ, Nandeyanen ga Kikitai yo) is the 6th episode of Odd Taxi anime series.

Synopsis[]

  • Imai finds Odokawa to personally thank him for the lottery numbers, with which he won one billion yen (~9 million USD) in the lottery. He asks Odokawa whether there is anything he wants for himself or for someone he cares about. Odokawa briefly considers Shirakawa, but then refuses Imai's offer. Imai decides to treat Odokawa for the rest of the night, and takes him away from his job.
  • Imai brings Odokawa to Kabukicho, to the White Dolphin cabaret club, where he works as a waiter. He covers for Odokawa's VIP treatment with 4 hostesses. Odokawa feels uncomfortable and leaves for the bathroom.
  • Kakihana is briefly seen looking at engagement rings.
  • Back at the White Dolphin, Odokawa scans through the numerous missed calls from Shirakawa, whom he had told to leave him alone. Suddenly, there is a gunshot, fired by Tanaka in a Halloween disguise, which causes a panic in the cabaret club.
  • Imai helps Odokawa escape through a hidden backdoor, while Shibagaki, who also works part-time at the club, tries to stall Tanaka. Tanaka fires a second shot at Shibagaki, but misses on purpose before fleeing the scene. Odokawa notices that his taxi has been broken into, but nothing appears to be missing.
  • Shirakawa has been waiting at Odokawa's house, and threatens to make a scene if he keeps avoiding her. They decide to go to the park for a talk as Odokawa does not want to bring her inside. She reveals that she was Dobu's girlfriend for 4 years, and that he told her to get closer to Odokawa to convince him to be Dobu's getaway driver for a bank robbery. Shirakawa says she wants to confess to the police, but Odokawa urges her to leave the situation to Gouriki. Before leaving, he makes it clear he does not want to have anything to do with her anymore. For the first time, Odokawa sleeps.
  • The next day, during their radio talkshow, Shibagaki recounts the shooting incident to Baba, where he says that he got popular for surviving the shooting at the cabaret club, though he is not allowed to give any more details while the investigation is still on-going. He proceeds to complain about how comedy has changed with time, saying that he does not understand why people do not consider them funny anymore. Shibagaki seems disappointed that Satoshi Nagashima has not sent in any fan mail.
  • When they leave the building, a crowd of fan-girls are awaiting Baba. When entering a taxi for Nakameguro, Shibagaki is interrupted by Satoshi, who attempts to have a talk with him, but only manages to scare away the comedian.
  • Kakihana tries to keep up the pretense of being rich, by taking out another loan from Takotako Loans. He is looking for an engagement ring, and spends his days playing pachinko.
  • Kabasawa uploads a new video of the shooting incident at the cabaret club, and believes the perpetrator is Dobu. He claims that his crusade is getting more and more powerful by amassing more followers.
  • Odokawa and Dobu meet again to discuss recent events. After watching Kabasawa's recent video, Dobu suggests that the shooter was looking for Odokawa. Dobu, recognizing the gun as his own, realizes that he is in trouble, and proposes an alliance with Odokawa. He will deal with the masked shooter during Halloween, while Odokawa will go to Meisei University to capture Kabasawa. Odokawa agrees on the condition that Dobu helps Gouriki and clears Shirakawa's debt, which Dobu accepts.
  • Baba's producer suggests he drop Shibagaki, as Baba is a rising star now and his partner will just drag him down. His producer wants to host a New Year program and proposes an initial shooting date. However, Baba requests a reschedule as it is on the same day as the third preliminary round of the N-1 Grand Prix. His producer reluctantly agrees to the reschedule.
  • Baba is revealed to be dating Rui, who tells him that her feelings for him are genuine as she likes him despite his lack of ambition. In fact, she prefers him not becoming too successful. They are recording her single debut, which will be released around Christmas, when Mystery Kiss will also be hosting a concert for 2,000 people. Yamamoto interrupts them to take Rui back to the recording room, and reminds Baba that he must be careful with showing public affection to Rui for the sake of her marketability. Before leaving, Rui asks him to let her know his schedule so they could make time for each other.
  • Shibagaki calls Baba and asks when they can practice together before the preliminaries. However, Baba reveals that he has a busy schedule and might not have time for this. Shibagaki wanders the street, looking sad and reflecting on his relationship with Baba.
