Trick or Treat (トリック・オア・トリート, Torikku oa Toriito) is the 7th episode of Odd Taxi anime series.
Synopsis[]
- Odokawa visits Taichi Kabasawa's university in an attempt to stop his pursuit of Dobu, but finds out that, despite his bravado, Kabasawa is not staying on campus out of fear of Dobu finding him.
- When Odokawa returns to his house, he is shocked to discover that it had been shot at, presumably by Skull Mask (aka Tanaka).
- Kakihana is seen with a recently bought engagement ring for Shiho. About to be accosted by loan sharks, he decides to hide out at home.
- Odokawa visits the police station, where the younger Daimon brother, Koshiro, is on duty. He tells Koshiro about the attack on his house, urging him to take a look without his elder brother Kenshiro coming along.
- Odokawa shows Koshiro the bullet holes and shell, but makes it clear that he does not want to open a police case. He asks why Koshiro wants to punish evil, and Koshiro explains how his parents' deaths were caused by a hit-and-run, a taxi driver.
- Odokawa tells Koshiro about Kenshiro's alliances with Dobu, though Koshiro is unwilling to doubt his brother. Odokawa goes on to explain the rivalry between Dobu and Yano, Dobu's Halloween night plans, and Odokawa's alliance with Dobu.
- Koshiro starts to warm up to Odokawa, but is still suspicious of his involvement with the Missing High School Girl case. Before he can check the space where he believes the girl to be hidden, however, Koshiro receives an alert about an unidentified body being found. Before he leaves, he gives Odokawa his phone number, to help him with his goal to defeat evil.
- Odokawa says "Good girl" to whomever is behind his closet door, while a report about the unidentified body plays, noting that the body is of a woman believed to be in her teens to thirties. This body is notably tied up with a blue tarp, cinder blocks, and was found around Shibaura pier. Odokawa then says, "Now you can't escape." It has been about a month since the woman's death.
- Odokawa reads Shirakawa's texts of her apologizing to him, and about how Dobu has terminated their relationship.
- Shirakawa visits Gouriki's clinic, apologizing to him as well, and explaining the situation behind her theft of the medicine and Odokawa's relation to Dobu. Gouriki then asks Shirakawa to help him with treating Odokawa.
- Kakihana goes to the docks to meet Shiho, and is then ambushed by Sekiguchi and Yamamoto before being hauled away.
- On the night of Halloween, Odokawa is in Shibuya looking for Skull Mask, when he is almost run over by Yano's scooter. Yano aggressively berates him before taking off.
- Rui sulks in a lounge filled with other idol groups, waiting for the Shibuya Halloween concert to commence. She annoyedly asks Yamamoto why she has to perform alongside the other groups. Yamamoto assures her that Mystery Kiss will be much more popular by Christmas, but is interrupted by Shiho's request to stop involving her in their scamming practice. Rui berates her, asking her what else she can do to bring in money.
- Odokawa meets Dobu at a diner. Dobu is surprised at Odokawa's ability to tell him apart from the real Skull Mask. Odokawa admits that he is having trouble finding Skull Mask, as he needs to have seen their face at least once before he can recognize someone in a crowd.
- The two continue their search for Kabasawa, while noticing that his fans are buzzing about him being in the area.
- The Daimon brothers are seen patrolling Shibuya, and Kenshiro complains about the costumed civilians. Koshiro is pensive, considering the conversation he had with Odokawa earlier about his brother being involved with Dobu.
- Odokawa and Dobu spot a man dressed like Skull Mask, and chase him down to the docks. Dobu attacks him, only to realize that the man is actually only cosplaying the shooter. Odokawa spots Kabasawa recording the whole event. The two chase him down, but lose him in a crowd of skull masks.
- Yano arranges a meeting with Yamamoto before meeting up with Sekiguchi at an unknown warehouse, ready for some shady business with a tied-up Kakihana.
